The Real Story

We started off with a simple question: How do we build a passionate community of science students? A group of students who will stay after school to think, discuss, and do science. A group of students united in a common cause: to make each other better science thinkers and science doers. That's when we came up with the Real Science Challenge.

WHAT IS THE REAL SCIENCE CHALLENGE?

A TEST OF SCIENCE SKILL, NOT SCIENCE CONTENT.

Other science contests have participants regurgitate textbooks facts or solve typical science problems. Not our contest. The REAL Science Challenge is a series of contests that test science skills like formulating hypotheses, making predictions, analyzing data, and identifying sources of experimental error. Some school boards call these skills “curricular competencies.” We just call it “being a scientist.”
